The Danish Embassy celebrates International Day of Yoga 2022
On 27th September, 2014, during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi put forth his suggestion for the occasion of a "Yoga Day". The first International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21st June, 2015.
On 21st June, 2022, the eighth International Day of Yoga was celebrated around the globe with the theme, ‘Yoga for Humanity’. To commemorate this occasion, the Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi joined worldwide Yoga day celebrations and organized a peaceful yet energizing yoga session in the Embassy. The session was joined by the Embassy staff and a delegation from the Danish Energy Agency. The yoga session was led by yoga Instructor Ms. Priyanka Kaushal.
The session started with opening remarks given by Ms. Kaushal, followed by practicing yoga asanas. She said, ‘Practicing yoga stabilizes the mind and body and keeps the emotional and mental state of the human body well’. Some of the yoga asanas, which were performed during the session included Titliasana (Butterfly pose), Ardhmatsyendrasana (spinal twist), Bhujangasana (Cobra pose), Savasana (corpse pose), etc.
The one-hour session concluded on a relaxing note with performing pranayama, (deep breathing exercises) and meditation. After the session was over, the Danish Ambassador, H.E. Freddy Svane gave interviews to various media channels and spoke about the significance of yoga and well-being.'Yoga se hi hoga' (which means only through yoga it will happen). "We should do yoga in our daily lives in order to keep our body fit and we should promote yoga culture", said Ambassador Svane.
