Last
week, the Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi celebrated Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,
an important initiative by Government of India to commemorate India’s 75 years
of independence and the glorious history of its culture and traditions. To
support and participate, the Danish Embassy illuminated the Embassy building in
the Indian flag’s tricolour.
The
Embassy building is an epitome of Danish architecture and design. Constructed
by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, the building is a Danish modernist
interpretation of Northern India’s filigree design tradition. The Embassy
received an honorary mention at the 'Building of the Year 2019' - award for
fulfilling the vision of an open, state, and democratic building.
A picture
of the lights on the building got impressive attention in online news (Read the
NDTV’s article here) and
went viral on Twitter. The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India
has as well noticed the initiative and appreciated it by sharing the picture on
their social media platforms. Tap here to see the post on Twitter and Facebook.
