IPR in India

Government of India and government of Denmark have jointly developed a manual to the Indian IP system. The objective of this manual is to make it easier for companies to obtain knowledge on how to protect their intellectual property rights in India.

The manual provides a brief and fully up to date overview of rules and procedures for protecting patent, design, trademark, copyright and geographical indications in India. In addition, it describes the most important information pertaining to trade secrets and provides an overview of initiatives and schemes which are applicable for start-ups ad SMEs, including foreign entities.

The manual has been developed within the framework of the Danish-Indian cooperation on Intellectual Property Rights. The manual was published on March 2021 by Embassy in New Delhi, Danish Patent and Trademark Office, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and Cell for IP Awareness and Management.
