The Embassy is recruiting a Sector Officer to support the Embassy’s work within the area of food & agriculture, trade policy and economic affairs. We are looking for a candidate, who is proactive, detail-oriented, strategic, analytical, flexible and a team player.

The Sector Officer position is an integral part of the commercial and economic department at the Embassy which consists of three posted staff, seven local staff and two Danish Interns. The Sector Officer will mainly work within the areas of trade policy and economic affairs in India and support the implementation of the government-to-government Strategic Sector Cooperation on Food & Agriculture under the auspices of the two posted staff.

Main tasks and responsibilities as Commercial Sector Officer:

  • Be an integral part of the commercial and economic department within the areas of food & agriculture, trade policy and economic affairs.
  • Develop a network with relevant stakeholders at your level in order to facilitate the activities of the posted staff.
  • Assist in setting up and attending meetings with local officials and experts together with the posted staff. Assist in planning, facilitating, and executing delegation visits by politicians, officials, business delegations and experts from Denmark to India.
  • Create and organize events, conferences, and roundtables in close cooperation with embassy colleagues.
  • Analyse and write up reports on policy issues in relation to food & agriculture, trade policy and economic affairs.
  • Follow up on specific projects and stakeholders.
  • Support the counsellors by obtaining and keeping an overview of relevant stakeholders and developments within the areas of food & agriculture, trade policy and economic affairs.
  • Support record keeping and administrative procedures.
  • Produce content for social media and public diplomacy.

Required qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in politics, law, international relations or economics.
  • Good analytical skills and interest in food & agriculture, trade policy and economic affairs.
  • Proactive, willingness and ability to take on practical/logistical tasks with attention to detail.
  • Flexible team player with inter-cultural understanding: strong interest in and willingness to share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to create networks and represent the embassy in a professional matter when engaging with external partners
  • Able to maintain an overview and deliver in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a proactive and organised manner.
  • Excellent computer literacy and MS Office skills.
  • Fluency in English.

Desired qualifications

  • Three to six years of experience working in a government body, embassy, international organization, think tank, research organization, consultancy or private company.
  • Experience working with numbers and statistics.
  • Fluency in one or more Indian languages is an advantage.

Employment conditions

The Consulate General of Denmark is seeking to recruit a structured, service-minded and proactive full time Executive Assistant to the Consul General and Administrative Officer at the Consulate General of Denmark in Bangalore.

 

In this role, you are expected to provide high quality support to the Consul General, coordinate security and safety of the mission, and be an integral part of the administrative team at the Consulate General of Denmark in Bangalore. We expect you to be exceptional when it comes to managing administrative tasks effectively, communicating clearly and professionally, handling scheduling and logistics, networking and interpersonal skills. You are a critical thinker, pay attention to detail, have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and are a proactive problem solver.

 

Our administrative team is the engine of the Consulate General of Denmark in Bangalore and plays an instrumental role in ensuring a smooth, efficient and compliant operation. The administrative team consists of a Senior Administrative Officer, Administrative Assistant and Maintenance Manager reporting directly to the Consul General.

 

You will be working under the leadership of the Consul General and in close cooperation with the administrative team. At the Consulate General of Denmark in Bangalore we focus on ensuring synergies across our four teams including The Trade Council, Innovation Centre Denmark, Invest in Denmark and Administration. Moreover, we have a strong focus on ensuring close cooperation with relevant teams and colleagues at the Embassy of Denmark in New Delhi and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen.

 

We are looking for a new member of the team who brings experience to the table, while still being open for learning new things, and take on new responsibilities. It is expected that you have a relevant educational background and possess at least 5 years of experience in a similar role.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The main tasks and responsibilities include, but are not restricted to:

 

Executive Assistant to Consul General

  • Professional management of the Consul General’s schedule and contacts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate management of information flows.
  • Organise meetings, events and incoming delegation visits professionally.
  • Assist with internal and external communication including MoMs, reports, speeches and presentations.
  • Liaison on protocol with Embassy of Denmark in New Delhi, DPAR of Karnataka State Government and Ministry of External Affairs.

 

Security Coordination

  • Ensure that the mission is compliant with security, safety and GDPR protocols.
  • Maintain and implement Mission Specific Security Instructions in coordination with the Consul General and Regional Security Advisor.
  • Maintain and update security related Standard Operating Procedures including training of staff and briefing of new employees.
  • Collaborate with the Consul General, Regional Security Advisor, Security Responsible at Embassy of Denmark in New Delhi, local security provider and local authorities.

 

Human Resource & Other Administrative tasks

  • Support Consul General in HR related matters including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, interns, etc.
  • Contribute to miscellaneous office administration and daily operations of the chancellery aligned with colleagues in the admin team.
  • Coordinate vendor services for general facilities, IT and entertainment.
  • Handling projects and any other tasks as assigned by Consul General

 

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant education and minimum 5 year’s experience from a similar role.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills (ability to structure, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines under pressure and manage competing responsibilities independently).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (proficiency in both spoken and written English).
  • Discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Flexible, adapt to change and curious to new ideas.

  • The position is ranked in salary grade 3/4 in accordance with the Salary Policy for Local Staff at the Consulate General of Denmark in Bangalore and Embassy of Denmark in New Delhi. All 6 salary grades comprise 15 steps. Currently salary grade 3 step 1 starts with a gross salary of INR 40.538 and salary grade 4 step 15 ends with INR 155.580. The assigned grade and step of the selected candidate will reflect qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results.
  • 13-month salary and performance bonus according to the Schemes of the Ministry on team targets.
  • Your standard working hours are 37 hours per week including lunch break of 30 minutes per day. Three months’ probationary employment would be applicable.
  • You will be entitled to 25 days of paid leave per full year of work (2.08 earned per month).
  • As part of your salary you will be enrolled in the EPF-scheme.

Sustainable Supply Chain Specialist

As part of The Green Strategic Partnership between Denmark and India, it has been decided to strengthen the focus and expertise on sustainable and socially responsible global value chains in order to support sustainable trade and investment between the two countries.

With the emergence of new ESG regulations and growing consumer awareness, companies continuously focus on improving due diligence and building sustainable supply chains. This is also the case for the 200 Danish companies that are already present in India today and for those who are considering investing in India. Moreover, with the rising geopolitical uncertainties, global value chains are shifting and India is becoming increasingly attractive for foreign companies, but this also means that there is a growing demand for support when it comes to mitigating business risks.

As a Sustainability Supply Chain Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the Danish companies by providing analysis and advisory service and levering your network in order to address concrete sustainable supply chain challenges. The Head of Trade in New Delhi will be your daily manager, but you will also be working closely with the First Secretary for Trade Policy and relevant commercial advisors. The Supply Chain Specialist will be part of The Trade Council's (TC) team at the Embassy of Denmark in New Delhi. The role requires the individual to maintain ongoing contact with colleagues in India and South Asia, and actively engage in their dialogue with Danish companies on responsible and sustainable value chain issues.

There will also be a need to build a strong network of local contacts (with both authorities and companies) with insight and commitment to the crossroads between sustainability and business particularly in the major commercial sectors in India.

Main tasks and responsibilities as Sustainable Supply Chain Specialist:

  • Provide sustainable supply chain advice for Danish companies that are already present in India and companies that are considering to invest in India in cooperation with colleagues in The Trade Council both in India and regionally
  • Building and maintaining an efficient contact network with local stakeholders, including authorities, business organizations and companies
  • Assist Danish companies in sourcing sustainably
  • Monitor regulatory developments and requirements on sustainability and conduct reports and analysis for Danish companies
  • Development of risk analyses approach and tools tailored to the market and customer groups
  • Support the First Secretary on Trade Policy when it comes to trade and sustainable development issues as well as geopolitical advisory
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Green Strategic Partnership between India and Denmark
  • Leverage expertise on sustainable supply chains in assistance to and training of TC employees who are involved in or have a direct co-responsibility for handling issues in India

 

Required qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience with CSR, quality assurance, sustainable sourcing and / or sustainability work in multinational companies and / or organizations, with international outlook
  • Industrial supply chain expertise e.g. sustainable sourcing.
  • Experience in translating theory into practice with concrete experience, from the crossroads between business and the sustainability agenda.
  • Insight into the terms and needs of small and medium-sized companies.
  • Experience with project management and competence development.
  • Fluent in English.
