The Ambassador welcomes
Rasmus
Abildgaard Kristensen (born 1974) is Denmark’s Ambassador to the Republic of
India and non-resident Ambassador (designate) to Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and
the Maldives. Ambassador Kristensen assumed his position in February 2025.
As
Ambassador, he leads a team of experienced diplomats and public servants at the
Embassy of Denmark in New Delhi. He is responsible for overseeing
Denmark's engagement with India on a broad range of political, economic,
commercial, consular, and other matters that shape the bilateral relationship.
Ambassador
Kristensen has had a distinguished career in the Danish Foreign Service, with
extensive experience gained from overseas assignments and other international
roles, including as Denmark’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Papua New
Guinea, and ASEAN from 2017 to 2020.
Throughout his career, Ambassador
Kristensen has specialized in international climate and energy policy. He served both as Head of Department for
Green Diplomacy and Climate at the Danish Foreign Ministry and Head of the
International Department at the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and
Utilities.
In
addition to his diplomatic career, Ambassador Kristensen has held a senior
position in the private sector as Vice President and Head of Group Public
Affairs at Danfoss, a multinational cleantech company based in Denmark.
Ambassador
Kristensen holds several university degrees, including a Master of Science
(with distinction) in Climate Change and Development from the School of
Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London.

Kristensen was appointed Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog by Her Majesty
the Queen of Denmark in 2019. He is married with two children.
