The Embassy is seeking to recruit a Political Officer with particular focus on Tech and Innovation to help develop new areas of cooperation with India under the next phase of the Green Strategic Partnership.
You will be working closely as part of the Sector Policy team, where we exchange ideas, experiences, and suggestions in an open and informal environment. Sector policy and strategic sector cooperation is at the core of the bilateral relationship between Denmark and India. The Political Officer will amongst other things help develop a policy network on tech in New Delhi and lead on reporting to Copenhagen on new developments in India. We are looking for a candidate who is flexible, robust, detail-oriented, diligent and a team player, and with relevant professional background.
You will be also be working in close coordination with Innovation Centre Denmark (ICDK) and the Science and Innovation Counsellor in Bangalore, and report to Head of Sector Policy in New Delhi.
Main tasks and responsibilities of Political Officer – Tech and Innovation include, but are not limited to:
- Primary responsibility for technology partnerships, incl. new and emerging tech, digitalisation, fintech etc.
- Maintain a strong network amongst stakeholders in Denmark, in coordination with ICDK in Bangalore.
- Lead coordinator in New Delhi with the TECH department in MFA Copenhagen.
- Lead on likeminded and EU coordination in New Delhi, including covering regular EU meetings on science and innovation, and exploring new opportunities under Horizon Europe.
- Lead on science and innovation from New Delhi in close coordination with ICDK and the Science and Innovation Counsellor in Bangalore, ensuring integration of efforts incl. assistance for the Counsellor’s visits to Delhi.
- Help develop an understanding of the tech and innovation ecosystem in northern India and a network among key stakeholders. Assist the work of TC on tech in northern India.
- Help prepare other official meetings, including for Ministers, other Government officials etc. as relevant
- Lead coordinator on other sectors relevant to the Indo-Danish Partnership without a dedicated Counsellor at the embassy.
- Help coordinate PD efforts for the sector policy team.
- Provide assistance to the Head of the Sector Policy Team in organising the day-to-day work of the department.
- Any other task as assigned by Team Leader or management.
Required qualifications
- An academic Master’s degree in politics, international relations, or other relevant education.
- Solid understanding of technology trends, especially strong background in Tech and Innovation.
- Strategic, commercial and innovation mindset as well as an independent and committed way of working.
- Strong practical/logistical skills with attention to detail and ability to keep an overview and juggle multiple tasks at the same time;
- Flexible team player with inter-cultural understanding: strong interest in and willingness to share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues;
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to establish professional relationships and represent the embassy in a professional manner when engaging with external partners;
- Proactive with an ability to work independently and efficiently, and to deliver in stressful situations;
- Excellent computer literacy and MS Office skills;
- Fluency in English.
Desired qualifications
- Previous experience of working in relevant policy areas, e.g., in a government body, think tank, research organization or implementing agency
- Fluency in Danish.

Employment conditions
- You will be offered full time employment on a local contract based on the relevant legally binding labour market rules of India
- 13th month salary
- Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results in accordance with the Salary Policy of the Embassy
- You will be entitled to 25 days of paid holiday per year
- As part of your salary, you will be enrolled in the EPF-scheme
- Standard working hours are 37 hours per week
- Medical coverage (80:20, where 80% of the medical expenditure is reimbursed by the Embassy)
- Willingness to travel for work is required.
