Food, Agriculture and agro business

- Agriculture and food sector is the backbone of Indian economy as it contributes to approx. 17% of GDP and provides
employment to more than 50% population.

- The sector has high government focus to modernise various food chains as well as increase food processing
infrastructure to cater growing consumer demand as a result of rising urbanisation and lifestyle changes.

- Current food retail is approx. US$ 500 Billion of which 10% is imported.

- Food waste is another area of concern for India as it wastes approx. 40% of total production.

- Cold chain, storage and processing infrastructure of various Agro-produce is on Indian Government and industry
agenda.
