The Danish Embassy is looking for two new staff members at New Delhi

The Embassy is seeking to recruit two programme officers to support the ongoing Strategic Sector Cooperation projects. We are looking for candidates who are flexible, detail-oriented, diligent and team players.

 

You will be working in close cooperation with four posted Sector Counsellors, and your primary responsibility will be to support Strategic Sector Cooperation projects within energy, smart cities, water and environment and intellectual property rights under the leadership of the Counsellors.     

 

You will be part of the embassy’s Political and Economic Department. The team consists of the Political and Economic Counsellor, four Sector Counsellors focusing on Smart Cities, intellectual property rights, environment and renewable energy respectively, local political advisors and associates as well as three interns.

 

Strategic Sector Cooperation project are long-term strategic partnerships between public authorities in Denmark and their counterparts in India. A SSC project is unique in the sense that it facilitates direct government-to-government cooperation in important strategic sectors.

Main tasks and responsibilities as Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) Programme Officers:

  • Is an integral part of the Political and Economic Team, specifically the SSC project-teams for energy, environment and smart cities and intellectual property rights
  • Assist in planning and executing delegation visits by politicians, officials and experts from Denmark to India
  • Analyse and write up notes and reports on policy issues in relation to the strategic sector cooperation projects
  • Assist in setting up and attending meetings with local officials and experts with the sector counsellors.
  • Support the Sector Counsellors by obtaining and keeping an overview of relevant stakeholders and developments within the sectors.
  • Support record keeping and administrative procedures
  • Produce content for social media and public diplomacy

 

Required qualifications

   

  • Master’s degree in politics, international relations, economics, engineering or the natural sciences
  • Good analytical skills and interest in green policy areas (environment, water, energy, climate and intellectual property rights)
  • Willingness and ability to take on practical/logistical tasks with attention to detail.
  • Flexible and a team player: strong interest in and willingness to share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work in stressful situations
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Flexible and irregular working hours with overtime may occur    
  • Computer literacy and MS Office skills
  • Complete fluency in English

 

Desired qualifications

  • Fluency in Hindi is not a requirement but will be considered an advantage
  • Experience from working in an international organisation, preferably an embassy / mission
  • Previous experience in related field.
  • Existing network in policy circles in Delhi

Employment conditions

 

  • You will be offered full time employment on a local contract based on the relevant legally binding labour market rules of India. The contract is time limited until 31 Dec 2020, with possibility of extension.
  • 13 month salary.
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results in accordance with the Salary Policy of the Embassy.
  • You will be entitled to 25 days of paid holiday per year.
  • As part of your salary you will be enrolled in the EPF-scheme.
  • Standard working hours are 37 hours per week.
  • Medical coverage (80:20, where 80% of the medical expenditure is reimbursed by the Embassy).
  • Willingness to travel for work is required.
