The Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi will participate in New Delhi World Book Fair, taking place from the 6- 14 January 2018. The EU will take part in the fair as Guest of Honour and Denmark will thus participate with a Danish stall as part of the EU pavilion, in order to showcase Danish literature to Indian audience.

The Fair started in 1972 and is the largest book fair in Asia. With a footfall of 1.4 million visitors in 2017, the fair presents an excellent opportunity to have Indian and Danish representatives from the publishing industry meet over literature.

For this reason, the Royal Danish Embassy has invited Danish authors and illustrators Mr. Palle Michael Schmidt and Line Leonhardt, to participate in the fair in order to promote Danish literature and culture in India.

About the authors:

Palle Schmidt began his career as a freelance writer, cartoonist and illustrator in the early 1990s and rose to international fame with his comic series ‘Thomas Alsop’ in 2012.
The series, following the adventures of supernatural detective Thomas Alsop, quickly gained a worldwide fan base and was declared ‘the miniseries of the year’ by USA Today.

Line Leonhardt is a Danish teacher and author of children’s books, who has amazed the Danish audience with publications on various topics such as fame, love, fear and crazy families.

Details of the event:

Mr. Schmidt and Ms. Leonhardt will both be present at the Danish Stall from the 6th – 9th January, where they will interact with publishers, authors and visitors, and display their literature and illustrations. Furthermore, they will host and participate in various programs at the Children’s Corner, EU Pavilion and International Corner during the same dates. The programs will include panel discussions on marketing strategies, courses on comics making, live storytelling and an inspirational speech on life as a freelance writer.
