Peak season at the visa section

Peak season for issuance of visas to go to Denmark and Iceland has arrived. The Visa Section at the Danish Embassy in New Delhi currently receives above 175 applications every day. Outside peak season, they receive between 30-60 applications a day.

Peak season begins in April and ends around September/October. The busiest months are April, May, June and August. Not only have we entered peak season. The number of applications have increased significantly. Team leader of the visa section, Karin Haunstrup Mehra, emphasizes the importance of applying at least 16 days before departure and in peak season as early as possible, though, not more than 3 months before.

“Compared to last year we see an increase in applications for January, February and March. With the highest increase of 43 percent in February. April’s figures appear to have increased by 30 percent compared to last year,” says Karin Haunstrup Mehra.

Reduced call-hours

Due to the growing number of applicants the Embassy has reduced it’s call-hours till Tuesday and Thursday 2pm-3pm. Consul Eva Szeftel encourages applicants to submit their applications in good time before the planned trip and to have patience with the Embassy and avoid calling the Embassy for status of the submitted application.

“If we have questions related to the application we will call the applicant. So please don’t call us because it will take time from our case processing ,” says Eva Szeftel. Inquiries can be sent to delambvisa@um.dk
